Based on findings from the University of Geneva green tea both raises metabolic rate and
increases fat oxidation. Green tea also contains catechin polyphenols which promotes
thermogenesis, the rate calories are burned through body heat. This is why I call it green tea fat burner. I drink it all day and really believe that it helps in keeping the fat stripped off me.
In another study by physiologist William Rumpler it was found that green tea increased
metabolism by approximately 3%. While this is not greatly significant what is
significant is that it also increased fat oxidation by 12%. This allows the body to use
more of its fat for energy. Japanese researchers have found much the same thing.
Green tea will help you to lose fat, but it is not a miracle cure and doesn't work well
unless used together with diet and exercise. You need to limit calories and use the aerobics to help burn the fat oxidized by the green tea.
If you want to try green tea you can drink the tea itself if you like the taste. Personally
I love it! 3-5 cups a day are sufficient to get the benefits. Or you can take a green tea
extract. You should look for one that provides at least 500mg of extract per serving and
contains all three - Polyphenols, Catechins and EGCG. Take 2-3 times per day.
